ADIRONDACK ROCK TRIP

Get the full report on how awesome this trip was!

Not to toot my own horn, but the Adirondack Rock Trip 2025 was pretty awesome!

We had a great crew of four climbers who absolutely crushed it. For 3 days we camped, climbed, and laughed in the beautiful mountains of the Adirondacks in NY. The weather and the fall foliage was peak making the trip even better.

During these three days, we climbed at the Beer Walls and the Chapel Pond Slab. The slab is an 800ft low angle climb that combines moderate climbing with killer views. Nate (Ascent owner and guide) took two climbers up the slab while the other two climbed with me at the Beer Walls, and then we switched! We covered topics like following trad routes, belaying a lead climber, multi-pitch transitions, rappelling, and climbing technique.

Each of the climbers had varied experience prior to the trip making everyone’s version of success a little bit different. The biggest success for everyone was topping their first multi-pitch climb. Mark and Devin went up on Saturday, after commenting on how gorgeous the climb was as well as how informational. Rope management and anchor transitions were aspects of climbing that were totally new for everyone; they felt very rewarded in learning the skills and putting them to use in one fell swoop.

While Mark, Devin, and Nate were on the slab, Victor and Amare learned some new skills with me. At the Beer Walls, we covered the necessary skills they needed for the slab. Following the leader was our main focus. Taking out trad gear proved to be challenging for Victor and Amare but by the end of our day, they got a handle on it. Of course, we also crushed a few classic routes including 7 Ounces, a vertical 5.7 crack that was an absolute blast.

On Sunday the teams switched. Victor and Amare tackled the slab while Mark and Devin climbed with me. We covered rappelling skills and footwork while the slab crew blasted up the cliff.

In the evenings, we had tasty camp-made meals along side the fire. Spending time off the wall proved to be one of the best parts of the trip. Adirondack Rock Trip has quickly become one of my favorites and I am stoked for the next one!

See ya out there,

Blake
